A Much Needed Break

Last night after a "riotious" day at work Papa and I met some friends at the Pioneer Playhouse in Danville for dinner and a play. The play was absolutely hilarious!

Outdoor stage
Love, Sex and the IRS by BillyVan Zandt and Jane Milmore July 22 – August 2
Two guys in New York room together, but to save money Jon has been filing tax returns listing the pair as married. IRS man Mr. Spinner comes to investigate and Jon's mother, financee and ex-girlfriend drop in, with complications sure to multiply! Rated PG.

Papa, Ed and Robbie

"Pujo" and me

Nancy, I hate that you would not able to make it...Feel better soon!!!

THEN...this morning we got up bright and early and heading to Salt Lick...first stop was the:
Clear Creek Shooting Range

4 shooting tables and four targets for both pioneer and modern weapons.

Posts for hanging targets at 25, 50, 100 and 200 yards.
Fee $5
2008 Recreation Schedule and Fees (pdf)
Directions
From Salt Lick, turn right on KY 211, go 3.5 miles to Forest Road 129, turn left and go 2.7 miles past Clear Creek Furnace to Forest Road 909. Turn right on 909, parking will be 1/2 mile on left.

3 magazines of 6 and all 18 are on target...I have progressed! Course, I shot more than that...and continued to stay on target...just didn't take any more photos.

From there we went to Tater Knob ...if you ever go...and I recommend you do...Be prepared to climb a lot of steps (200 to the base of tower), even before you reach the tower (45 steps to the top). You'll be rewarded with a spectacular view and sore leg muscles the next day. Makes the ole legs kinda shaky

Pa is actually NOT comfortable with the height!

Towering...
Then we stopped by Slate Furnace

View up the stack

...and we still had time to stop and be a good samaritian...

every since Academy...I have a soft spot for turtles...

To clarify: I studied for my exam on the ride to Danville, Pa quizzed me. I listened to my Spanish words on the way back...I studied note cards and quizzed myself through the morning...we got home by 2pm and I have been working off and on with my studies...I have not neglected them although it looks like I have...Pa and I just took a mini vacation...It's all good!

What am I doing here?

My sister shared this quote with me...It's good stuff.

It was only a kindly word,
And a word that was lightly spoken,
Yet not in vain, for it stilled the pain
Of a heart that was nearly broken. – Anon.

I have a BIG test tomorrow...and here I am on my blog...:O) Just a short break and I'll get back to studying.

Last weekend was better...Silas was down for the weekend...

Silas took this photo...it's a favorite!

Another "bee in my bonnet"...or lily

Struck me as a simple but profound statement. I just had to share.

After reading that article I noticed a news video to the side that was titled...

"Dad sells naming rights to unborn baby for $100 in gas money"

And, well..."it is what it is"...good grief!

100th Post

I would have enjoyed posting 100 photos that I have taken...or the 100 people who have posted something on my heart...be it good or bad...however, I am pressed for time...So...
I remember when Ariel was in Kindergarten and they celebrated the "100th day of school"...Do the elementary schools still do that, Jen and Jan? Each child was to bring in 100 of something...instead of sending Ariel with a bag of 100 buttons, I sewed them on a white t-shirt. Do you remember that Ariel? 100 buttons...
I remember being in first grade...not too, too long ago and dreading when the teacher asked me to count to 100. It always took way too long. I truly hated the daily assignment of writing to 100 on the beginner's paper.EVERY morning we had to write to 100 with the ones lined up to the tens lined up. I think I have hated busy work every since.
Nowadays we have 100 calorie packs...aw, the magic number for restrained snacking.

And so, to celebrate my 100th post...which would have happened long before now if I weren't so incredibly busy...cause I absolutely love to blog, I am posting some subjects that are worth looking through...for about 100 minutes (probably the average time I used to get stuck on the Internet when I logged on to check my mail). *It's no different than stepping into Walmart to pick up something you really need and coming out with...$100.00 worth of stuff. In all actuality...I probably spend 100 minutes getting this post together!
First...a bit of information regarding the number 100:
Then for your perusal:
100 Photos a Day (I will do this someday)
100 Quotes from Movies.. good trivia material You might have to copy and past this url into your browser
(remove quotations) and scroll down a bit on the page...
"en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI's_100_Years..._100_Movie_Quotes"
100 Word Stories You can post here, too!
100 Words Invite others to your blog using only 100 words
AND in keeping with my college math that happens weekly in the Academy...
Well, I have 100 things to do today...and must sign off...just wondering do you know what the 100th day of the year is?

Weekend quotes...

Papa came back from his fishing trip with Ed and said, "Ed invented a new toliet for the woods."
"Oh, yeah," I answered.
"Yep, it's the bucket and bag toliet. You sit on the bucket and put the bag over your head and no one can see you." *drumroll*

When taking pictures of the grandkids, Emily wanted to crawl around Silas so I asked him to hold her up...he says, "Okay, but my mom is NOT to see these pictures!"
____________________________________________________________________
Sunday morning, the three wake up in their fort they made. Jake comes out to me to get breakfast. "He's still in his swim trunks!" I say, "Oh, that's no big deal." Si says, "I'd never get away with that at home"...I say, "Yeah, my kids would have never gotten away with it either!" He and Molly say, "That's the fun part about being at your Mimi's!" Yep...grandkids sleeping in their swim trunks is not an issue after so many debacles you experience with your own children as they are growing up.
Side note...the swim trunks were not left on since the swimming expedition...we had been home quite some time...the trunks went on in the evening when the rain was pouring down...the opporunity to dance in the rain was not to be missed!

Papa came back from his fishing trip using curse words...if the youngun's weren't here, I'd have held him down and washed his mouth out with soap! His excuse: "Ed's a bad example." Geez, George!

Wish I could remember everything...
