What am I doing here?

My sister shared this quote with me...It's good stuff.

It was only a kindly word,
And a word that was lightly spoken,
Yet not in vain, for it stilled the pain
Of a heart that was nearly broken. – Anon.

I have a BIG test tomorrow...and here I am on my blog...:O) Just a short break and I'll get back to studying.

Last weekend was better...Silas was down for the weekend...

Silas took this photo...it's a favorite!

Another "bee in my bonnet"...or lily

Struck me as a simple but profound statement. I just had to share.

After reading that article I noticed a news video to the side that was titled...

"Dad sells naming rights to unborn baby for $100 in gas money"

And, well..."it is what it is"...good grief!

100th Post

I would have enjoyed posting 100 photos that I have taken...or the 100 people who have posted something on my heart...be it good or bad...however, I am pressed for time...So...
I remember when Ariel was in Kindergarten and they celebrated the "100th day of school"...Do the elementary schools still do that, Jen and Jan? Each child was to bring in 100 of something...instead of sending Ariel with a bag of 100 buttons, I sewed them on a white t-shirt. Do you remember that Ariel? 100 buttons...
I remember being in first grade...not too, too long ago and dreading when the teacher asked me to count to 100. It always took way too long. I truly hated the daily assignment of writing to 100 on the beginner's paper.EVERY morning we had to write to 100 with the ones lined up to the tens lined up. I think I have hated busy work every since.
Nowadays we have 100 calorie packs...aw, the magic number for restrained snacking.

And so, to celebrate my 100th post...which would have happened long before now if I weren't so incredibly busy...cause I absolutely love to blog, I am posting some subjects that are worth looking through...for about 100 minutes (probably the average time I used to get stuck on the Internet when I logged on to check my mail). *It's no different than stepping into Walmart to pick up something you really need and coming out with...$100.00 worth of stuff. In all actuality...I probably spend 100 minutes getting this post together!
First...a bit of information regarding the number 100:
Then for your perusal:
100 Photos a Day (I will do this someday)
100 Quotes from Movies.. good trivia material You might have to copy and past this url into your browser
(remove quotations) and scroll down a bit on the page...
"en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AFI's_100_Years..._100_Movie_Quotes"
100 Word Stories You can post here, too!
100 Words Invite others to your blog using only 100 words
AND in keeping with my college math that happens weekly in the Academy...
Well, I have 100 things to do today...and must sign off...just wondering do you know what the 100th day of the year is?

Weekend quotes...

Papa came back from his fishing trip with Ed and said, "Ed invented a new toliet for the woods."
"Oh, yeah," I answered.
"Yep, it's the bucket and bag toliet. You sit on the bucket and put the bag over your head and no one can see you." *drumroll*

When taking pictures of the grandkids, Emily wanted to crawl around Silas so I asked him to hold her up...he says, "Okay, but my mom is NOT to see these pictures!"
____________________________________________________________________
Sunday morning, the three wake up in their fort they made. Jake comes out to me to get breakfast. "He's still in his swim trunks!" I say, "Oh, that's no big deal." Si says, "I'd never get away with that at home"...I say, "Yeah, my kids would have never gotten away with it either!" He and Molly say, "That's the fun part about being at your Mimi's!" Yep...grandkids sleeping in their swim trunks is not an issue after so many debacles you experience with your own children as they are growing up.
Side note...the swim trunks were not left on since the swimming expedition...we had been home quite some time...the trunks went on in the evening when the rain was pouring down...the opporunity to dance in the rain was not to be missed!
____________________________________________________________________
Papa came back from his fishing trip using curse words...if the youngun's weren't here, I'd have held him down and washed his mouth out with soap! His excuse: "Ed's a bad example." Geez, George!

Wish I could remember everything...

If two's company and three's a crowd...what is four?

First time all four have been together....

First time Emily meets Aunt Megan

The Dive/Flip

Wish I could upload the high dive jumps but the video is too big...

Shake, Rattle and Roll...

Emme B at Kid's Place...just a few hours before her bottom tooth starting stomping it's way through the gums with extreme disregard for baby happiness.

Men are from Mars and Women are all the wiser...

So, the grandkiddos are visiting this weekend...I promised that I would take them swimming at Woodland Pool. We have created memories there every summer for years and they remember...
I was preparing to take them Friday and it came a big rainy deal...so we opted for Kid's Place. Before we knew we weren't going though, we all got into our swimsuits...Silas, Molly, Jacob and Emme B...I went to get mine on...and well, it's a $80 swimsuit from Land's End I bought just last summer. Saddness upon saddness, I have lost so much of my...let's say, "chest"...that it was rediculous! There is no way I will be able to wear it so I will have to replace it. As if life is not hard enough already...
Saturday morning...I get up and prepare Emme for pickup, make the others some of their most loved oatmeal pancakes and prepare for another attempt to go swimming. I tell Papa, it's gonna be really rough not to be able to play in the water with the youngun's. And he replies with, "Well, can't you just run by Walmart and pick up a another swimsuit?" Did he really just say that?
Picture this, a Mimi, with three young children, ready to get to the pool, stopping by Walmart ...of all places, with the children...and zipping in trying on a swimsuit. She holds a few up and the 2 hour saga begins...after several trips to probably three different stores, the children are wanting to get in the water so badly they are willing to play in the store's drinking fountain and their Mimi is in a deep depression unable to even care.

Run by Walmart and pick up another swimsuit...my bohonkus!!!!
Thought my readers might need a good laugh...*sigh*

This was the day for OC Certification

This is my eye, face, ears and neck on fire...get the picture?

I was OC certified at my previous place of employment.
This experience was twice as painful...no three times as painful...
I think I would rather birth a baby....
At least you'll have something to show for the pain, as Ariel commented earlier.

I keep getting these "doggie" emails...

Had to share this with you..from the Jay Leno show

BTW, I dreamt last night that Winston sat on my lap...He backed up to me sitting on the couch, placed his bohonkus on my knees...stood up on his hind leg tippy toes and sat down on my lap...I said, "Papa, look at this!" He replied, "That's just wrong!" Strange part of my dream for sure...

And now a break from my studies...

Why am I posting this? I am exhausted from studying for my Math exam...I just want to be a part of your world, too...

So, I'm sharing something my aunt sent in an email.

TYPE IN a command under the dog and see what happens... sit, roll over, down, stand, sing, dance, shake, beg, fetch, play dead, etc, and...
it's also very cute if you type in a command that's not recognized...!!

Make sure you type in 'Kiss', too, but do it last!!!
It's kinda sad to close the window after he plays with you...such an obedient fellow...
he deserves a treat!

Happy Birthday to me!

What a surprise!
Papa set up a great birthday get together...I had a wonderful visit with everyone. I only wish time had not went so fast. That's how it goes though. You are busy playing with barbies, riding your bike, wanting your Mom's attention, when suddenly you are married and have a house full of children you want to give your undivided attention to. Then you look up and they have goals they are trying to reach, children of their own and busy lives and you're 43. Life is like that. Moving quickly.
Best to grab ahold of every minute and make it the best.
I had a hold of a really good moment tonight.
Thanks to my little family...
Just a note: Megan: Your card was soooooo great! I could hear you saying Har! Har! Wish you could have been here!

A Memorial Day Birthday...

Today was my Mom's 65th birthday.

Seemed appropriate to have Ole Glory in the photo with us.
Three generations

And since we are on the subject of birthdays...I got to see a photo my Uncle took of my Granny and Great Aunt Juanita when they were celebrating their 85th and 86th birthday in January. Their birthdays land within a couple days of each other.

I love this photo...and must share it, too!

Memorial Day

Ole Glory flying high at Camp Nelson

This morning, a friend, posted a tribute to all those who have served in the military...who had given their lives in the name of freedom. Visit her site today if you can. Her post was inspiring to me and my husband. I believe it will be the same for you.

Our visit was to Camp Nelson where George Sr. was laid to rest approximately 1 1/2 years ago.
